Russia Steps Up Pressure On Ukraine Over Debt

 

Russia has threatened to challenge an International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout loan with Ukraine if Kyiv doesn’t pay back its $3 billion bond due in December.

"We will turn to the relevant judicial bodies” if Ukraine fails to make the payment, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in Moscow on September 7. "Also, we are members of the IMF and we will question the validity of the IMF program to Ukraine." 

A creditor group that owns half of Ukraine’s sovereign bonds agreed last month to accept new terms that include a 20 percent principal writedown and a four-year maturity extension. 

Other bondholders such as Russia are to vote on the agreement this month.

The restructuring is part of a $17.5 billion IMF loan aimed at easing pressure on Ukraine’s economy, which is expected to shrink nearly 10 percent this year due its war in the east and the loss of coal mining and steel factories in areas held by Russian-backed separatists.

President Petro Poroshenko still owns one company directly and ten more through a closed, non-diversified corporate fund called Prime Assets Capital, reports Schemes, a Radio Liberty investigative program. 
 
The ultimate owner of the fund is the president himself and its director is his father, Oleksiy Poroshenko. 
 
The fund has assets in several different spheres, including agriculture, media and industry.

 

 

 

 

​Though during his presidential campaign Poroshenko had promised to sell his assets, the structure of his business has undergone few changes during his one year in office. 
 
Poroshenko’s business partners are Ihor Kononenko, deputy chairman of his faction in parliament, and Oleh Hladkovskyy, first deputy secretary of National Security and Defense Council.
 
For two weeks the journalists tried to contact Poroshenko for comment, but despite multiple written and telephone inquiries to the president’s press service, they haven’t received a response.

Premierul Ucrainei, Arseni Iațeniuk, a luptat în primul război din Cecenia. Cel puțin asta a declarat șeful Comitetului de Investigații al Federației Ruse, Alexander Bastrykin, într-un interviu pentru Rossiyskaya Gazeta, scrie gazeta.ru.

Potrivit sursei citate, Arseni Iațeniuk ar fi luptat de partea armatei ruse și chiar ar fi fost decorat cu medalia „Onoarea națiunii”.

Bastrykin spune că în urma investigațiilor membrii Comitetului au aflat că Iațeniuk este caracterizat drept o persoană responsabilă, dar vicleană care se avântă după putere și popularitate.

A proposito di inno russo....

 

Ieri sera stavo guardando alla tv, insieme a mia figlia Natasha (una piccola ginnasta in erba)

 

i campionati del mondo di ginnastica ritmica, organizzati dalla Germania a Stoccarda.

 

Al termine di una gara c'è stata la cerimonia di premiazione:

 

1^ una russa (Margarita Mamun),

 

2^ un'altra russa (Alexandra Soldatova),

 

3^ un'ucraina (Anna Rizatdinova).

 

 

Bene...parte l'inno e....nell'imbarazzo generale....era quello sbagliato....

 

Niente paura...lo speaker annuncia di nuovo l'inno russo....e ne parte un altro sbagliato....

 

La ginnasta vincitrice, già sensibilmente turbata per quanto accaduto, inizia quindi ad intonare l'inno a cappella

 

imitata dalla compagna di nazionale che era sul secondo gradino del podio

 

e dai numerosi russi presenti alla "Porsche Arena".

 

Inutile dire che la notizia ha già fatto il giro del mondo anche fra i non appassionati di ginnastica ritmica

 

sollevando un polverone di polemiche...

 

Bellissima, ad ogni modo, la reazione delle 2 atlete russe e del pubblico in tribuna.

Украинское конструкторское бюро «Южное» и завод «Южмаш» договорились с американской компанией Boeing о поставках украинских двигателей и ракетоносителей в рамках космических программ NASA. Об этом сообщает ТСН со ссылкой на соглашение, которое было достигнуто в Вашингтоне.

 

Телеканал отмечает, что расширение сотрудничества с КБ «Южное» вызвано введением антироссийских санкций, так как до этого для ракет «Зенит» и «Антарес» двигатели и ракетоносители поставляли российские компании.

 

«Boeing видит нас своим партнером. Компанию интересует продолжение сотрудничества с Украиной в направлении «морского старта», также интересует проект, который мы предложили по созданию нового сателлита, который бы помог Украине реализовать телекоммуникационные задачи», — заявил председатель национального космического агентства Любомир Сабодаш.

 

Контракт будет подписан до ноября 2015 года.

Petition Calling For Saakashvili To Be Made Ukraine PM Passes Hurdle

 

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's supporters in Ukraine have collected more than 26,000 signatures on a petition recommending him to become Ukraine's prime minister.

Saakashvili, who has been governing Ukraine's Odesa region since May, has said that he did not see himself as Ukraine's prime minister.

President Petro Poroshenko introduced an online petition system in August according to which any petition drive that collects at least 25,000 signatures in three months or less has to be considered by the president.

The petition supporting Saakashvili's candidacy for the prime minister's post was officially submitted on September 3. 

The same day, Ukraine's Channel 5 television network, which is owned by Poroshenko, aired an interview with Saakashvili, who lambasted current Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's reform agenda.

Yatsenyuk responded sharply at a September 4 cabinet meeting, describing Saakashvili's criticism as "deceitful accusations."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk has himself called the russian claim about his alleged Chechnya war past "a clinical diagnosis of the Russian authorities."
 
"It's Stalinist justice mixed with Goebbels propaganda and confirmed and signed by Vladimir Putin," he commented to a journalist while on a visit to Poland.

Said-Khasan Abumuslimov, the former vice president of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, has called the Russian claim "a terrible lie of the Russian special forces."
 
"Another invention of the Russian special forces -- of course he wasn't there," Abumuslimov said. "There were people from UNA-UPSD [the Ukrainian National Assembly -- Ukrainian People's Self-Defense] party, from western Ukraine. There were a few of them, everybody knew them. And this is an absolute lie about Yatsenyuk."
 
According to Abumuslimov, the Russian Investigative Committee is continuing a "Stalinist policy" and discrediting people who obstruct the Russian regime.
