Italian embassy in Chisinau tests mechanism of processing visas for Moldovans
Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign and European Integration Ministry's mass media and public relations directorate has made available to MOLDPRES the following communique:
"Italy's embassy in Chisinau does its utmost to start providing consular services to Moldova's citizens as soon as possible. Italian Ambassador to Moldova Stefano De Leo made this statement at a today's meeting with Deputy Premier, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Stratan.
The head of the Italian diplomatic mission specified that the visa processing system is presently tested, which implies a substantial simplification of the issuance procedure, including the reduction of the procedure s duration. The ambassador stressed that the modernisation and launch of the mechanism of providing consular services represents an important concern of the embassy, speaks about an advanced degree of Moldovan-Italian relations, and is in accordance with the modern exigencies of the civilized interstate relations.
Stefano De Leo said that he knows the problems and inconveniences which are presently faced by the Moldovan citizens. At the same time, the ambassador expressed the hope that the situation will be correctly understood. He specified that Moldova's public opinion will be officially informed about the beginning of the Italian Consulate's activity immediately after the system successfully passes the test. So far, Moldova's citizens can further benefit from the services of the Italian embassy in Bucharest.
The ambassador conveyed to Minister Andrei Stratan a letter on behalf of his Italian counterpart Franco Frattini to participate in a conference of foreign ministers dedicated to the Reform of the UN Security Council. The officials shared the idea on the need to reform the United Nations institutions from the perspective of the special importance of this organisation to consolidate the international security, and mobilise efforts in order to confront with the global challenges.
The sides also discussed other subjects of mutual interest at the meeting."
